How do you change the settings in a Gaines VM-750 vending machine so it gives change when an item is sold out?
I bought three 2007 Gaines VM-750 Combo Machine about a month ago, but when a drink is sold out, the machine doesn’t give the money back and acts as if it wasn’t sold out and gives the customer the change difference (for example if a drink cost 0.75 cents and it was sold out, when the customer puts in a dollar it gives back 0.25 cents instead of the whole money back since the drink is sold out.) and even when the customer presses the change button it doesn’t give the whole money back just the change difference. Does anybody know how to change that setting in the machine? I would really appreciated because my machines are at home and I can’t put them somewhere until I fix this, thanks in advance for your responses.
It sounds like this machine is set on Force Vend mode. You’re saying that all 3 are doing this? I’m unfamiliar with Gaines, but on most drink machines that do not have electronic control boards the coin acceptor will act as the brain of the machine. On most standard coin acceptors you can remove the upper section to reveal toggle switches that allow you to set the pricing and may have options such as force vend and Dollar Bill/Canadian currency acceptance. If these machines are physically vending from empty columns then it could be a problem with the sold out switches or associated wiring.
