I want to send soup to Guam via USPS is that allowed? ?
My bf is stationed in Guam and he’s sick, I packed him a box with soup and other cute things to make him feel better. You can hear the soup sloshing around in the can and I was wondering if I could get in trouble for sending liquid? I’m afraid they’ll open the box at customs which will suck! Or instead do you know anything that I could wrap it in that will minimize the noise in the box? I’ve searched the usps website and I can’t find shipping restrictions about guam. Help!
shipping rules to Guam are the same as the domestic U.S. If you are sending the package via the post office then it will be considered U.S. mail.
I don’t believe we are prohibited from sending liquids via mail. The concern would probably just be regarding the possible spillage. You say it’s in a can, if it’s canned goods, there shouldn’t be a problem. If it’s your homemade soup that you packed in a jar or soup container, seal that sucker good…duct tape or better all around the lid then in a plastic bag in another plastic bag. That’s I how send paste-y, semi-liquid-y goods…yes, all the way to Guam too.
You’ll need to fill out that big white form stating what you have inside the package….that’s where you’ll declare i.e. canned goods soup products, etc.
Be sure to choose only between Express mail (2 days) or Priority (5-10 days). The shipping times will depend on which method you choose and for Priority, it depends where you’ll be sending from (west coast will reach Guam sooner that East coast origin)
