When heating left-over food, when do you use a microwave oven, and when do you use an oven toaster?
I don’t know how to cook and I live with my Mom who does the cooking. But there are times when even she does not know when to heat leftover food in the microwave oven and when in the oven toaster to get maximum quality and taste. Please help.
Oven toasters use dry heat and will continue to dry out a food when reheating. Microwave ovens help to retain the moisture in reheated foods. I suggest using the microwave oven at 30 second increments on high for bread and cheese type foods, longer for moist foods such as soup. Eventually, it will become easier to know the length of time and the power level at which to reheat.
PS Always cover your food with a microwave safe lid or plastic wrap or wax paper.
