Railroads and coal during the Industrial revolution?

Duringe industrial revolution what was the relation between coal and railroad racks. Inow they made the coal somehow to MAKE the rairoad tracks but I dont know how they that exactly

Railroads delivered coal and iron ore to steel mills. The coal was used to fire the ovens used to melt the iron ore and convert it to steel. The steel was then manufactured into different shapes and sizes for industrial use (railroad tracks).
