Electric Steam Cooker Questions & Recipes?

I just got a steamer at the 2nd hand store. It’s a Salton, oval shaped with a clear plastic lid, and two baskets that sit inside. One has slots in the bottom and the other is solid. I have no problems with the slotted basket. So far I have cooked excellent potatoes, carrots, hotdogs and other vegitables in it. But I don’t know what the solid basket is used for. I live in a hotel room with no refridgeration so I need simple basic recipes. Can I cook rice in this thing? How about meat? What about dried peas or beans? Any hints or recipes that you have tried out would work for me. How about egg dishes? Thx!

The solid basket is made to sit inside the bottom basket. you can cook things in there that require liquids…rice, beans, noodles..things like that. I have not tried eggs, but it doesn’t seem like a good idea to me. It’s a wonderful way to cook Tilapia, and Salmon…keeps all your meats from drying out.
