What are the real dangers of Methane and some other gases building up deep in the Ocean from the spill?

Scientist last night on CNN were warning us about that, I did not hear the whole story, what is Methane gas, and what does it do, does it explode, and what are the other gases they said were lethal in combination with Mathane?

What I want to know is…what happens when a two-mile-high column of oil is finally all pushed out of the tube? Since the pressure must be absolutely immense, does the compressed gas shoot out the hole at the same pressure? If yes, can mankind possibly survive THAT scenario?
Best not to even think about…although I’d bet that scientists world-wide ARE thinking about it…and worrying their butts off.
